Tips for social media:

  1. Always be thinking of what your client wants because you are really doing this for them
  2. Speak in client language, NOT vet language – KISS applies! If the word has >2 syllables – DO NOT use it! (I’m being a bit dramatic here but you get the drift…)
  3. Remember the basics – your opening hours, your phone number & where to call & go for emergencies out of hours
  4. Always link back to your website
  5. Provide interesting and informative content
  6. Be fun!  Have fun!
  7. Publish consistently not just when you are promoting or want something
  8. What do you want your readers to do in every post eg Call us on…., Click on the link below …,  Hit the share button ….. watch this cute video…

A Basic Marketing Strategy:

  1. Create a promotional calendar for the next 12 months
  2. What is the purpose for each promotion and structure it accordingly eg to increase the visibility of the veterinary practice, increase number of facebook fans, increase consults, increase surgeries, increase traffic to website, collection of email address…
  3. Decide how you will campaign the promotion eg flyers, website, social media, newsletters, email, newspaper, sms, etc, etc.
  4. Assign a person to be responsible for the creation of the promotion
  5. Set a time frame on the completion date of all material
  6. As before, speak in client language, NOT vet language
  7. Measurement!!! You must measure every campaign for ROI to decide whether to repeat it or not
